Job Description

Adventure & Experience Manager

At the Fairmont Banff Springs it is the responsibility of the Resort Activities Assistant Manager to lead the activities and/or the team that provides this service to our guests. The Adventure & Experiences Manager is responsible for planning and executing existing programs, events and activities such as youth programming, family and adult activities, recreational and tour offerings. Additionally the Adventure & Experiences Manager will work with various departments or organizations to develop new value-adding activities for the hotel. What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director, Adventure & Experiences, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service.
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and implementing all youth, family and programs at the Fairmont Banff Springs
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and implementing all guided experiences (transport, safety, liaison for luxury group & private experiences).
Responsible for supervising the Outdoor Recreation Centre during operational months.
Responsible for supervising 13 Below F&B operation, including inventory, ordering etc.
Oversee Tennis operation including summer camps & member benefits.
Acts as liaison between Animators, Director and parents using tact and courtesy in order to generate a high level of comfort for the parents.
Provide leadership, coaching and development, communication and recognition for all direct reports.
Create and supervise daily schedules for colleagues while overseeing payroll.
Coordinate with the Sales & Marketing team to develop, maintain and promote an exciting and fulfilling ‘resort experience’ (including, but not limited to website updates, collateral for publishing etc).
Maintain open lines of communication with other Hotel departments, Town of Banff, Parks Canada and other entities to ease the flow of ideas and information regarding Resort Activities.
Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters (including, but not limited to guest experiences, youth excursions, tennis pro, etc).
Review, analyze key trends from our guest feedback forums (online etc), and provide insights to Director and key department heads.
Create training tools for other key departments and assisting in their overall learning of resort programs.
Create and ensure compliance with sustainable environmental initiatives.
Co-ordinate with the Health & Safety representative to ensure compliance with safe work practices and hazard identification.
Keep track of activity/programming finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting for onsite vendors.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:


University/College degree or related schooling associated with recreation, education, entertainment or related field of study strongly preferred.
Minimum three years of current or previous management experience in a related field.
Interpretive guide professional certification, 4 group management and class 4 driver’s license.
Proven experience managing complex policies and detailed operational procedures.
A proven record of excellent guest service skills.
Able to work independently as well as lead a team.
Must be a highly responsible, self-motivated, creative, energetic and organized.
Cash handling experience an asset.
Budgeting and accounting experience an asset.
Current CPR “C” and Standard First Aid certification is mandatory.
Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, email and web searches.
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
