What will you do in this job?:
Entertain visitors to Banff with an energetic, interactive and historical “Best of Banff” interpretative experience
Welcoming all guests while engaging period character and ensuring they have all information they require for their Open Top experience
Delivering scripted interpretive content in a fun and engaging way both on and off the tour
Operate Open Top sales base including street team/marketing activities, ticket sales, preparation of manifests, POS and cash handling
Execute Open Top food and beverage program including professional service assistance according to set operating procedures at Banff Cruise Beer Voyage, Farm and Fire and Banff Gondola
Communicate with and grow partnerships with area vendors including local hotels, visitor information services, and regulatory (i.e. Town of Banff, Parks Canada)
Safe operation of the Open Top experience vehicle including daily vehicle inspections and transportation logs
Plan for and implement roof management; monitor weather conditions and determine roof requirements; remove or install as necessary
Full vehicle sanitization and cleaning, inside and out according to Pursuit Safety Promise and guest experience standards
Other duties as required
What skills and experience do you need for this job?:
Selected candidates will perform a short monologue to be performed during their audition
Active member of this exciting acting troupe presenting a historically based tour through the Canadian Rockies
This fun exciting new tour portrays Banff in 1930’s Western Canada and its evolution in the Wild West
Dressed in authentic 1930’s era costumes, the Character Interpreters will perform a variety of scripts in the heart of the iconic Rocky Mountain town of Banff
Live acting facilitates the opportunity for improvised interactions which completes the tours immersive guest experience
Use of props, costumes and even lingo to get guests involved in this whirlwind tour through the era to current times
More than a guide in the traditional sense, Open Top interpreters wear the hats of; memory maker, experience developer, purveyor of passion, time traveler and smile provider
Acting or theatrical experience; an audition is required
Excellent verbal communication and public relations skills, and the ability to imaginatively develop and project a character; fluent in English with other languages an asset
Familiarity with historical interpretation
Willingness to wear required period costume and engage 1930’s characteristics/lingo
Ability to deliver the timebound script accurately and bring tours to life
Dynamic, outgoing, energetic personality with a good sense of humor; quick to smile, laugh and put others at ease
Experienced in group management
Safe food handling certification (Smart-serve /Pro-serve )
POS or retail/cash handling experience
Ability to follow a timeline and maintain a schedule
Physical ability & flexibility to lift 40lbs overhead; may be required to climb up to 2.9 m/9 ‘
Safety minded with a Class 4 Driver's license. Must be willing to obtain, we can provide assistance/guidance through this process for the right candidates
Flexibility in schedule to work evenings and weekends
