Job Description

This role is about more than taking orders—it’s about setting the tone for a truly luxurious in-room dining experience while leading the standard for others to follow. As Lead In-Room Dining Server, you are the voice, guide, and first point of contact for every guest, while also acting as a key quality control presence within the team. You ensure every interaction, order, and delivery reflects precision, consistency, and the highest level of service.

Calm, attentive, and highly observant, you understand that exceptional service begins the moment a guest engages with you. As a mentor, you guide and develop team members in real time, reinforcing best practices, building confidence, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Engagement

Receive and manage In-Room Dining (IRD) orders with professionalism, warmth, and precision
Guide guests through menus, offering thoughtful recommendations and pairings
Translate guest needs into well-paced, accurate service execution
Communicate VIPs, dietary restrictions, and special requests to kitchen and beverage teams
Support curated breakfast journeys, elevated private dining, and luxury add-ons
Leadership & Mentorship

Act as a quality control checkpoint before orders are dispatched
Support training and mentoring of IRD Servers
Maintain composure, clarity, and consistency during high-volume periods
Operational Excellence

Coordinate closely with kitchen and beverage teams to ensure smooth order flow
Ensure timing, accuracy, and presentation standards are met for every in-room delivery
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of IRD order-taking stations

Qualifications

What You Bring

Strong communication and guest engagement skills
Experience in fine dining, luxury service, or elevated hospitality environments
Ability to read guests and adapt tone and service style accordingly
Deep menu knowledge and confidence in upselling thoughtfully
Alberta ProServe Certificate required
Calm, organized, and detail-oriented approach

Bonus If You Bring
Prior IRD experience in luxury hotels or resorts
Experience mentoring or training service teams
Knowledge of food and beverage pairings, including wine and specialty beverages
Comfort working independently with a high level of technical accuracy

Physical Demands

Continuous standing and walking for extended periods
Frequent lifting and carrying of trays, linens, or service items (up to 11lbs / 5kg; occasional up to 22lbs / 10kg)
Frequent bending, reaching, and fine motor movements
Ability to maintain composure and accuracy in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
