Job Description

At the Rimrock, we don’t just maintain spaces, we care for the places where moments happen. The Maintenance Worker plays a critical hands-on role in maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of the hotel. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer, you will support essential maintenance operations across guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and building systems.

Your work ensures a seamless, safe, and polished environment for both guests and colleagues.

Contract Type: Permanent
Pay Rate: From $22 per hour plus premium for night shifts

Key Responsibilities

This position comprises a schedule of 2 night shifts and 3 day shifts per week. Overnight shifts are from 11pm to 7am, including weekends and holidays as required.

Public Areas & Guest Spaces

Conduct regular checks of public areas including hallways, lobby, restaurants, and washrooms.
Inspect lighting, exit signage, doors, walls, ceilings, and flooring for condition and operability.
Perform repairs such as light bulb replacement, painting, door adjustments, and minor surface repairs.
Interact professionally and courteously with guests while working in public and guest-facing areas.
Guest Room Maintenance

Complete guest room maintenance tasks including:
Plumbing and drain operability
Furniture adjustments and minor repairs
Paint touch-ups, grout and sealant replacement
Minor drywall repairs and wall painting
Clear drains, tighten loose fixtures or appliances, and ensure rooms meet established quality standards.
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance

Ensure all fire exits and emergency pathways are kept clear and accessible at all times, including snow and ice removal.

Pool, Spa & Building Systems Support

Monitor swimming pools and spas, including daily water testing and chemical balancing.
Support pool, sauna, and related equipment maintenance.
Monitor process equipment including boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems, responding promptly to alarms or irregularities.
Assist with basic heating and cooling checks and troubleshooting.
Report irregularities or concerns to Engineering leadership promptly.
Material Handling & Shop Organization

Move and relocate furniture, appliances, and equipment as required.
Install pictures, fixtures, and furnishings.
Remove garbage, recycling, debris safely.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of the maintenance shop and workspaces.
Support inventory counts and tracking of maintenance supplies and materials.
Safety, Standards & Compliance

Follow all health, safety, and PPE requirements.
Work within established procedures, standards, and regulations.
Handle chemicals and controlled substances safely and responsibly.
Support a safety-first culture through attention to detail and adherence to protocols.
Perform fire watch duties during rounds to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Complete vehicle checks and ensure operational readiness of maintenance equipment.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
Basic carpentry, mechanical, and painting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Comfort working within structured systems, standards, and procedures.
Experience with pool operations or water chemistry.
Bonus If You Bring

Plumbing or electrical training.
Previous hotel, resort, or facilities maintenance experience.
Familiarity with working in both indoor and outdoor environments year-round.

Physical Demands

Significant walking and standing.
Frequent stair climbing.
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 kg/22 lbs.
Occasional lifting up to 23 kg/50 lbs.
Bending, kneeling, crouching, stretching, reaching, twisting.
Occasional use of stools and ladders.
Exposure to chemicals and controlled substances. Work performed both indoors and outdoors, including enclosed spaces.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
