Your Opportunity:
This is a multi-site position for both Canmore and Banff Hospital Labs. The town of Banff is located approximately 115 km west of Calgary nestled among Alberta’s Rocky Mountain Range in Canada’s first National Park. Banff is an international travel destination with visitors from around the globe coming to experience the splendor of the Park and its wildlife. The Banff Mineral Springs hospital provides the Bow Valley with a variety of services including Acute Care, Emergency, and Surgery as well as hospital outpatient services and public health. The town of Canmore is located approximately 80km west of Calgary nestled among Alberta’s Rocky Mountain Range. With quick access to a multitude of hiking, biking, cross country ski trails as well as quick access to Canada’s first National Park it’s easy to see why Canmore is an ideal community to call home. The Canmore hospital provides the Bow Valley with a variety of services including Acute Care, Long Term Care, Emergency, Labor and Delivery as well as hospital outpatient services and public health. As a member of the interdisciplinary team this position is responsible for working day and evening shifts, night shifts and on call. Sleeping accommodations on site may be available for on call shifts. Reporting directly to the Clinical Supervisor, the MLT will be responsible for providing exemplary patient care by applying the regional policies and procedures. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to highly complex procedures and activities within the laboratory department.

Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:
At least 1 year Experience in the last 5 in Hematology and Chemistry. A combination of Education and Practical Experience will also be considered. Experience within the past 5 years Performing Phlebotomy. In accordance with Health Information Act (HIA), Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) and other privacy legislation in effect the incumbent shall comply at all times with APL’s Information Privacy and Information Security policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
1 year experience in Transfusion Medicine at an APL site within the Past 5 years is an asset. 1 year experience with Connect Care within the past 5 years is an asset.
