To be considered for employment under one of the student employment programs, the individual must be: registered as a full-time or part-time secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited academic program participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution should meet the minimum age requirement to be employed in the province or territory of work About the position Duties Parks Canada is looking for a reliable, motivated, and detail-oriented individual with an interest in history and cultural resources (historic buildings, archaeological sites, artworks, and artifacts) from approximately May to September. The successful candidate will support a variety of cultural resource management projects. Key responsibilities include assisting with: Monitoring of cultural resources, including agents of deterioration in National Historic Sites Collections management, including inventory, condition reporting, movements, and record keeping Archaeological fieldwork and data collection Records management, both digital and paper You will be expected to work as part of a team and represent Parks Canada. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are a key factor for the successful candidate. Intent of the process The results may be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Banff Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate. Operational Requirements OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal safety equipment Willing and able to work varied hours, shift, weekends, evenings, overtime and holidays Willing and able to work outdoors including at high altitude (mountaintop environment), in forests, and in varied weather conditions Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, handling cultural resources, digging archaeological test pits, cleaning historic sites, and minor maintenance Willing and able to conduct repetitive tasks, and make moderate effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods You need (essential for the job) Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following Open to students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school in an accredited institution and/or those participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.
