Job Description Working in the Hotel Grounds department, the Horticulture Technician supports our Horticulturist ensuring our various interior plants and arrangements are maintained to high standards while also taking pride in the hotel’s exterior property, ensuring its safety, and with a high attention to detail ensuring visitors’ expectations are exceeded. Starting Rate: $21.18 per hour We recognize tenure through our compensation. Hourly rates increase after six months, and yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $25.06 Job Duties Include: Reporting to the Grounds Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Labor intensive work in the form of shoveling, lifting, carrying, pushing, digging, and assorted movements Maintenance of interior plants (watering, monitoring health, and cleaning) and as required floral arrangements Participating in planting & garden maintenance, holiday decorating, snow removal, groundskeeper responsibilities and other projects Support leadership by acting as a project lead Mentor and provide support regarding daily tasks for new colleagues Other duties as assigned Qualifications Your Skills & Qualifications: Must have post-secondary education in Horticulture or related field (Agriculture, Landscaping, etc.) Must have previous experience within the industry such as landscape gardener, greenhouse laborer, etc. Strong ability in indoor horticulture is preferred Must have Class 5 driver’s license and driver’s abstract in good standing Constant standing and walking throughout shift at a fast pace Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 70 lbs. up and down stairs Working on ladders and dealing with tall heights while holding/lifting items Working in a variety of temperatures and conditions (snow, heat, rain) Excellent communication skills, detailed oriented, and strong organization skills Perform tasks under minimal supervision and enjoy a repetitive environment Additional Information Job Perks & Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package (Medical, Vision & Dental) including extended benefits like; Mental Health, Orthodontics, Fertility Drugs and Gender Affirmation for full time permanent status employees Defined Contribution Pension Plan with employer matching up to 5% of annual earnings for full time permanent status employees Employee travel program with discounts on room rates as well as on food & beverage at Fairmont & Accor properties world-wide Access to the Mountain Explorer Travel Program – exclusive room rates for colleagues, which includes 50% off all food & beverage when staying at Fairmont Resorts in Lake Louise, Jasper & Whistler Discounts while using our resort’s Food & Beverage Outlets, Fitness Centre, Spa and Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Courses Subsidized staff accommodation provided on-site for full time status employees One complimentary meal per shift in our staff cafeteria (additional meals can be purchased for $4/meal) Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
