Avalanche Forecaster or Technician position includes:

Snow Safety Assistant Supervisor duties
Performing all Ski Patrol duties
Gathering daily weather, snowpack and avalanche observations
Understanding, evaluating and communicating avalanche conditions
Assist with other duties as assigned
Job requirements:

Advanced skiing ability (black diamond moguls)
Valid 80-hour wilderness first aid certification or equivalent (PEAK NUEC 3 with advanced protocols preferred)
Valid CPR or BLS certificate
CAA Operations Level 2 (preferred)
CAA Operations Level 1 registered for the Ops 2 exam this winter
Valid AB (or BC) Blasters certificate with blasting experience (Hand charging with Safety Fuse)
High level of physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions
Must be able to hear and speak clearly for communication using radios and telephone
Previous experience as an avalanche technician and ski patroller
Practices current OGRS standards
Current InfoEx experience
Climbing and rope rescue skills
High School Diploma or equivalent (College/University Degree preferred)
Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Must have housing in the Bow Valley
Positive attitude and team player
Period of employment:

Start date approximately mid to late October
End date is the end of April 2024
Full-time seasonal position
