Job Description

As our Pastry Chef, you'll be more than a culinary leader - you'll be an artist, innovator, and mentor. From handcrafted pastries enjoyed with a morning coffee to elegant desserts that become the final memory of a remarkable dining experience, your creations will inspire moments of delight for every guest.

Start Date: July/August 2026
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: $67,000 to $70,000 per year, dependent on experience

What You'll Do

Culinary Excellence

Lead all aspects of the pastry kitchen, setting the standard for quality, creativity, and execution.
Design and evolve seasonal dessert menus, artisan breads, pastries, chocolates, and specialty confections that celebrate local ingredients and the changing seasons.
Create exceptional desserts for our restaurants, lounges, banquets, in-room dining, weddings, and VIP experiences.
Continuously explore new techniques, flavours, and presentation styles that elevate the guest experience.
Ensure every item leaving the pastry kitchen reflects Rimrock's commitment to luxury, precision, and unforgettable hospitality.
Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team

Inspire, mentor, and develop a passionate team of pastry professionals.
Foster a culture built on collaboration, curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning.
Recruit, train, and coach team members to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
Lead by example with positivity, professionalism, and a hands-on approach.
Deliver Operational Excellence

Plan and oversee daily pastry production based on business levels and upcoming events.
Work closely with culinary leaders across the hotel to create seamless guest experiences.
Ensure consistency in recipes, presentation, and execution across every venue.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen where quality is never compromised.
Develop and maintain SOPs related to pastry production, bake-off procedures, storage, labeling, and food safety.
Drive Business Success

Manage food costs, labour, and inventory with care while maintaining exceptional standards.
Minimize waste through thoughtful planning and sustainable practices.
Participate in menu planning, forecasting, and budgeting to support the overall success of the culinary operation.
Champion Safety and Quality

Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP compliance.
Ensure all equipment is maintained and operated safely.
Create an environment where cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail are part of everyday excellence.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Pastry Arts Diploma or equivalent professional pastry experience.
Leadership experience in a luxury hotel, or high-volume restaurant.
Strong operational knowledge of pastry production, bake-off systems, and finishing techniques.
A creative mindset with an eye for detail and presentation.
Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operational standards.
Calm, solutions-focused approach in fast-paced service environments.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a kitchen environment.
Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying of food products and kitchen equipment (up to 25kg / 55lbs).
Manual dexterity required for pastry finishing, plating, and production tasks.
Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
