True North Hostelling Housekeeper

True North Hostelling Association
Banff, AB

Banff is a town with lots to offer; it’s on every backpacker’s bucket list, both for the amazing unspoiled wilderness and outdoor pursuits of the National Park – and for the renowned reputation of being a great place to work with, live with and party with other young folks from around the world! And there’s no better place to do this than at our hostel.

We’re a team of avid travellers who’ve chosen to work in this place, and this hostel, because we want to be immersed in a culture of other like-minded people who believe in respecting each other, learning about other people’s cultures, and squeeze the best out of our Banff experience. There’s room for growth and discovery! Many of our leaders started out on the front lines, and we’re eager to promote from within and provide opportunities to try out different roles.

Our staff accommodation has everything you need and is extremely affordable, one of the cheapest in town. Add to that we’ve got a fleet of mountain bikes and camping gear for you to borrow to get out and explore even more... not to mention 13 other Mountain Park hostels that you get to stay at for free, so you can expand your explorations to the rest of the parks... or even the rest of Canada... knowing you’ve got a place to sleep and friends to connect with everywhere you go, for free!

What you will be doing as a Housekeeper

This job is more than a housekeeping cart and a list of rooms to clean; it’s about being part of a team. We do things differently than most hotels, and you’ll be working as part of a group each day to communally identify and allocate jobs to ensure our hostel is clean and in a great state to welcome our guests.

You’ll also be able to enjoy the fact that you’re part of a not-for-profit organization that embraces sustainable tourism. There’s room for growth and discovery in this position! Many of our leaders started out on the front lines, and we’re eager to promote from within and provide opportunities to try out different roles.

What we look for

You’ll need to be in a state of fitness to allow you to spend 6-7 hours cleaning each day

You’ll need to enjoy working as part of a team and bringing your positive energy and humour to work every day

You’ll need to take pride in whatever you do. Our Housekeeping department has one of the most important tasks in our hostel, and we need teammates who understand that, and are keen to be part of delivering a great experience to our guests every day.

About HI

We love travelling. To us, travel isn’t just about going places, it’s also about meeting people, discovering cultures, eating new food and most of all, learning how people do things differently than we do back home.

We believe that through hostelling, we become more conscious about the world around us; and we can even make the world a better place. Our mission is to build a community of conscious travellers who share a greater understanding of people, places and cultures through our network of hostels and people.
