Job Description

Start Date: May or June 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour, dependent on experience

This role is about more than baking, it’s about precision, passion, and learning the foundations of exceptional pastry. The Pastry Cook plays a key role in bringing desserts and baked goods to life, supporting the team with consistency, care, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-standard environment.

Key Responsibilities

Pastry Preparation & Execution

Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and confections following established recipes and standards.
Assist in assembling plated desserts and finishing touches with a focus on consistency and presentation.
Support mise en place and daily production to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Follow direction from Chef de Partie and Pastry leadership to execute tasks accurately and efficiently.
Operational Excellence

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station in accordance with HACCP and sanitation standards.
Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Use kitchen and pastry equipment safely and responsibly.
Assist with inventory and stock management as required.
Team & Culture

Work collaboratively with the pastry and culinary team to support service across all outlets.
Demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn and grow.
Contribute to a respectful, supportive, and high-energy kitchen environment.
Embody Rimrock values of connection, growth, and authenticity in day-to-day interactions.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Culinary or Pastry training (formal education or equivalent experience preferred).
1–3 years’ experience in a kitchen, bakery, or pastry environment.
Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking fundamentals, and kitchen operations.
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to follow direction and learn.
Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of HACCP; FOODSAFE certification an asset.
Physical stamina to work in a kitchen environment; able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
A positive, team-first mindset with a passion for pastry and hospitality.
Bonus If You Bring

Experience in a hotel or high-volume pastry kitchen.
Interest in developing skills in plated desserts, chocolate, or artisan baking.
A passion for local ingredients and creative presentation.
A curiosity and eagerness to grow within the culinary field.

Physical Demands

Continuous standing for long periods of time.
Frequent walking, bending, and reaching above/below shoulder height.
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 lbs / 10 kg.
Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs / 23 kg.
Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced environment for extended shifts.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
