Digital Marketing Specialist

The Opportunity
Marketing and Communications is critical to the profile and viability of Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. The Digital Marketing Specialist assists Marketing in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of digital marketing plans at Banff Centre. This role will meaningfully contribute to all areas of Banff Centre by championing marketing analytics, considering the Banff Centre ecosystem, allowing teams to make data-driven decisions. This role will support the creation, execution, and analysis across digital assets, including the website, email campaigns, and digital ads, reinforce best practices across the institution

The goals of the department are to effectively position Banff Centre as Canada's leading arts and leadership training institute, and one of the most important in the world. This role supports the team in positioning Banff Centre to recruit quality participants, to build digital and physical audiences to showcase our participants, faculty, and guest artists, to engage with our communities and stakeholders locally, nationally, and internationally, and to assist Development, Conferences, Hospitality, and Fitness and Recreation areas in maximizing enterprise revenue. This role works closely with the Manager, Digital Marketing Platforms, and Manager, Digital Marketing to execute campaigns across the organization in support of all Banff Centre activities.

Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Marketing & Platforms, below are some key accountabilities:

Reporting:

Monitor and recommend optimizations of the performance of digital marketing campaigns, presenting actionable insights and data-based learnings through data visualization.
Associate marketing activities and business objectives, such as program applications and ticket sales.
Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations based on industry trends and user behaviour.
Analyse user journeys to improve customer experience and maximize conversions
Implement qualitative data in reports to provide extra insights such as heatmaps and survey results.
Website:

Use digital governance platform to review the website for spelling errors, broken links and accessibility improvements
Support website maintenance by implementing best practices and training new users
Create wireframes, sitemaps and design webpage mock-ups
Support content updates to digital marketing assets including website and digital ads
Build cross-functional relationships across the Banff Centre to help maintain standards, guidelines, and templates for the website and digital platforms to align with industry best practices and internal benchmarks
Adhere to Banff Centre Communication policies and brand guidelines
Participate in committee work and project work as needed, with a focus on change management for digital platforms
Implement metrics and KPIs to enable data driven web/digital strategy
Ads:

Support digital campaign creative process, creation, maintenance, and optimization
Actively participate in testing digital platforms, webpages and ads, providing recommendations for improvement
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
At minimum 3 years of related web/digital marketing environment, including hands-on understanding of current trends in web technologies, digital marketing, SaaS solutions, analytics and social media
Undergraduate degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Strong attention to detail and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and projects
A self-starter with the ability to work under broad direction without close supervision
Google Analytics, Tag Manager, MS Office experience is a must
Experience with best practices in Information Architecture
Experience aggregating data sets from multiple sources to present cohesive data visualizations and dashboards
A fundamental knowledge and understanding of website and email marketing best practices
Experience with Drupal and Mailchimp is an asset
Experience in user experience, web navigation, UX/UI, wireframes and mockups
Experience using Meta Business Manager and Google Ads preferred
Experience managing social media analytics (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) is an asset
Experience with the arts organizations, or a post-secondary institution is an asset
Bilingual (French, English) is an asset
Experience with CRM environments preferred
Familiarity with web development tools including HTML, CSS, SEO/SEM, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, XD as well as experience with video editing software Flash or HTML5 animation is an asset
Employment Terms and Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6 month probation period.
The annual salary for this position is between $46,987.20 and $54,371.20, depending on experience, based on working 40 hours per week.
The successful candidate will have access to a range of benefits through Alberta Blue Cross and will be eligible to participate in our defined benefit pension plan.
