What can you expect? The Apprentice Electrician maintains a a high functioning work environment, providing an outstanding experience via the safe, efficient, dependable operation and maintenance of all electrical systems at the Banff Sunshine Village Resort and associated sites e.g., buildings, lifts, snowmaking, generators, outdoor facilities, events. Electricians are focused on safety, efficiency, and attention to detail. This role reports to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor or designate, liaising frequently with all Maintenance/Operations departments, and contractors. This job might be right for you if you think you would really enjoy: Assisting in all electrical maintenance duties throughout the resort and associated sites while always maintaining a safe and efficient work site e.g., preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, assembly, disassembly and cleaning of equipment and areas. Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities: Timely completing documentation e.g., daily checks and reports, assigned logs, maintenance logs, inventory counts, worksite inspections, safe work plans. Communicating unusual operating conditions e.g., mechanical, operational, environmental. Communicating and adhering to company initiatives and policies, relevant legislation, and manufacturer requirements e.g., OHS, Z98, electrical/building/fire codes. Timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and deficiencies to appropriate departments/personnel. Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time. And you have: Alberta or Inter-provincial Electrical trade certification. Valid Alberta vehicle operator’s license and clear driver's abstract showing at least 3 years current history. Must have a positive, mature, and friendly attitude along with being neat, alert, punctual and dependable. Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours. Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves. Calm under pressure and patient. Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally and in a confidential capacity. Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative on or off duty. Effectively provide support, and assistance to coworkers. Attend and actively participate in meetings and training. Own basic set of tools appropriate for the position. Additional Considerations: Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty. Requires standing/walking for long periods of time, trunk rotation, frequent lifting (up to 25kg), pushing/pulling (up to 45 kg), kneeling, crouching. Routinely climb inclined stairs up to 5m or work at heights up to 40m, hike and move around in an alpine environment. Ability to ski or snowboard is an asset, but not required. Skiing or snowboarding for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs. This role maintains/operates machinery, off road/highway vehicles, and works around moving equipment. This role maintains and operates hand/powered tools/equipment. Candidates may be required to provide their own transportation to the resort base. Candidates are required to provide CSA approved safety footwear. Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque/hat, collared shirt, polo) are provided. This role has potential exposure to industrial chemicals and electrically energized systems. This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook, Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
