The Role:

Reporting directly to the Manager of Safety and Security, the Safety & Security Guard's role is to assist the resort in maintaining the security and safety of all facilities, 1,000+ guests and 300+ employees in three properties, a Spa facility, four residence complexes, and one leased public building. The Safety & Security Guard role will include, property foot patrols, vehicle patrols, compiling daily shift reports, acting as a designated first aid provider, and enforcing hotel and residence rules and regulations.

As a safety and security guard, you will also act as first responder on site to any & all emergencies, working in coordination with other departments and outside agencies to resolve threats to the safety of guests, staff, and visitors within Kananaskis Village. Due to the wide variety of guest and staff calls that may occur, it is imperative that you possess superior first-aid skills.

Although safety is always the number one priority, this role acts as an ambassador to our guests regarding all aspects of customer service. Conveying a friendly, positive demeanor at all times is essential for this role.

Job Duties:

Conducting routine foot and vehicle patrols
Providing first aid to guests and staff
Acting as a member of the emergency response team
Participating in Health and Safety meetings and fire training sessions
Conducting monthly audits for first aid kits, AED's, eye wash stations and fire extinguishers
Completing incident, first aid and daily hotel and residence reports
Interacting with guests and staff on a daily basis
Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

You will be considered for this role if you have all of the following experience:

Must be licensed in Alberta with the Solicitor General as a Security professional
Must have a Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
Must have a valid Standard (Intermediate) first aid with level C CPR certificate from an accredited Canadian agency (St. John Ambulance or Red Cross). Priority will be given to candidates who hold a higher level of training from a Canada accredited program such as Advanced First Aid or EMR
High school diploma. Post secondary education is desirable
2 - 3 years prior security experience, ideally in a public setting
Must be computer literate, preference given to individuals with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
The below soft skills will be an asset for the role:
Prior experience with conflict resolution
Ability to stay calm under pressure or in high pressure situations
Exceptional interviewing techniques, note taking, and report writing
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset
Physical Demands:

Ability to safely perform regular foot patrols throughout a large resort property and respond promptly to emergency situations
Ability to walk or stand for the majority of a shift
Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including exposure to cold, snow, ice and heat and other seasonal weather conditions
Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, push and pull while responding to incidents
